Perfect Saltwater Aquarium

tentacles are similar in appearance to the vessicles on the pseudo-tentacles of Lebrunia danae, and small C. lucida may be confused with Lebrunia.

Natural Habitat: On Caribbean reefs. May be found expanding from a hole in solid reef or from a hole in sand or gravel at the base of the reef, with the pedal disk attached to the reef or a large solid rock. Difficult to collect because the pedal disk is most often deeply buried in the rock or sand. Several symbiotic or commensal shrimp species may be found among the tentacles, including Periclimenes spp., Tbor amboinensis and other Thor spp. There is also an associated red mysid shrimp that schools among the tentacles. A display of these in an aquarium would be spectacular!

Tribe Endomyaria

Family Actiniidae

Scientific Name: Anemonia cf. majano

Common Name: Aiptasia, Anemonia Colour: Brown or green

Distinguishing Characteristics: Numerous tentacles often with swollen "bulb" tips. We do not knowr if the genus assigned to this species is correct. This anemone seems quite distinct from Anemonia viridis (=sulcata) from the Mediterranean.
